Why follow the moon?

In astrology, the moon rules our feelings, habits and instincts. Knowing what sign and phase the moon is in gives you the chance to harness the moon’s energy to your advantage – to know when the best, most effective time is for taking action, romance, relaxing or when to avoid certain things. Also, if you’re more tuned into the moon’s energy, it gives you a heads up of how the moon will be affecting you on an emotional level. If you want to read about the other planets, I also write a monthly article on rabblerouser.ca!
For those more advanced, you can check what house the moon is transiting in your natal chart to see where in your life you can expect these energetic changes.

What can we expect this week?

March 13th to 19th, 2020.

This Friday the 13th, the moon will be in the sign of Scorpio in a waning gibbous phase. The Scorpio moon is good for deep research, being creative and self reflection. When the moon is in a water sign, we feel more emotional and intuitive, especially if you are already sensitive. During this time, be careful of being overly obsessive, secretive, or jealous. If you are feeling overemotional, try not to be stressed and find a way to express yourself in a healthy way (e.g. don’t turn to alcohol or being mean, instead put those feelings into painting, writing, etc.). This energy is also good for meditation, divination and enhancing psychic abilities. Ruled by Pluto, Scorpio is also a sign of transformation. The waning gibbous phase is a good time for studying, being grateful, showing thanks, cleaning and doing meditation. As for doing spells, this phase is good for banishing and protection magick.

Saturday at 4:09am, the moon enters fiery Sagittarius! This energy is good for thinking big picture, thinking philosophically, travelling, dreaming big and for learning more about spirituality or religion(s). It’s also a great time for being spontaneous and adventurous! Do something you’re passionate about, have fun and try to be optimistic. People may over-indulge or exaggerate during this time. Careful of being reckless or impulsive and if you tend to “have your foot in your mouth”, watch what you say to others. If you are going to make goals or plans, thinking big picture can be really helpful, just make sure you’re being realistic. The moon will be here until Monday morning.
Monday the 16th, the moon will be in a last quarter phase. This is the time for releasing and letting go of things that you no longer need in your life, whether that be negative thought patterns, a person, or whatever applies to you. It’s also a good time for working on breaking bad habits and resting. For magick, it’s a good time for banishment and justice spells, as well as cleansing yourself and your home.
Monday at 9:25am, the moon goes into Capricorn and will be here until Wednesday evening. Since this is earthy energy, it’s wise to be realistic, productive, organized and responsible. If you are feeling stressed out, do something grounding, such as doing breathing exercises, going out in nature, or meditating. Some stones that help with grounding are hematite, shungite, black tourmaline and smoky quartz. You may want to focus on your career and money during this time but careful of overworking yourself. Make sure your spending habits are in check and don’t overspend. This is also a good time for making a schedule as well as setting boundaries and rules. Try not to be too strict on yourself (or others) and avoid being too bossy.
Quote from Jenna Medeiros: Knowing what sign and phase the moon is in gives you the chance to harness the moon’s energy to your advantage.
Starting Tuesday (and to the end of this article), the moon will be in a waning crescent phase. This is a good time for reflecting, looking inward, showing gratitude, studying and resting. You may also want to meditate or cleanse your home.
Wednesday at 6:16pm, the moon enters Aquarius. This is a great time for making connections, spending time with friends, and being social in general. If you’re not much of a people person, work on your independence and being the most you that you can be! Think outside the box, try something new, be innovative and express what makes you stand out from others! With this Aquarius energy, make some wishes, be open-minded, generous, unselfish and open to change. You should also be flexible with your schedule and try not being in your head too much.

Moon Void of Course

I won’t get too into detail about this here, but when the moon is in between changing zodiac signs, it goes through a period called “Void of Course”. Things started at this time often get delayed, need adjustment, end up failing, or otherwise just not being stable.
If you’re making any major decisions (e.g. starting a new business, making investments, or even first dates) they should be avoided during this time if possible, as well as planning anything important. Instead, do something such as cleaning, reading, meditating, or so on. If you are going to close a business or end a relationship, this is the time to do so.
Into the Voids Times this week. Mar.14th from 3:06am to 4:08am Mar.16th from 2:34am to 9:24am Mar.18th from 5:48pm to 6:15pm
Hope you enjoyed, stay tuned for next week!
