The Moon’s Energy & How it’s Affecting Us
Weekly periods run from Friday to Thursday, All times PST
Why follow the moon?
In astrology, the moon rules our feelings, habits and instincts. Knowing what sign and phase the moon is in gives you the chance to harness the moon’s energy to your advantage – to know when the best, most effective time is for taking action, romance, relaxing or when to avoid certain things. If you’re more tuned into the moon’s energy, it gives you a heads up of how the moon will be affecting you on an emotional level. If you want to read about the other planets, I also write a monthly article on rabblerouser.ca!
For those more advanced, you can check what house the moon is transiting in your natal chart to see where in your life you can expect these energetic changes.

What can we expect this week?
March 6th to 12th, 2020
The moon is currently in a waxing gibbous phase and is the time to slow down and reflect. This is a good time for manifestation, working on and visualizing your goals, and doing spell-work to attract things to you (e.g. money or love).
Friday at 1:27am, the moon enters outgoing Leo! This is a good time for being social, partying and having fun! Just don’t be irresponsible or too reckless. Careful of being melodramatic and of getting caught up in petty drama. This energy is great for doing something creative to express yourself and for showing off your talents. Be confident but don’t be overly conceited. If you have any children, spend some quality time with them or even a phone call if they’re far. Just because the moon is in Leo doesn’t mean you should ignore your responsibilities, so make sure to get some work done at least. The moon will be here until early Sunday morning.
Sunday at 3:47am, the moon moves into Virgo. Time for being organized, thorough, practical and realistic. Pay attention to details during this time, especially while Mercury is retrograde and for signing anything important. Try not to be a perfectionist or too “nit-picky”. Make sure your responsibilities get worked on and if you have a routine you follow, this isn’t the time to slack! If you don’t have a daily regimen, this may be the time to start. Careful of indulging in unhealthy behaviours (such as binge drinking or eating too much junk food) as Virgo governs health. Take time for yourself and try not to stress if you have a lot to do! The moon will be in this sign until Tuesday.
Monday the 9th is a full moon. This is a good time for forgiveness, being grateful and showing thanks. You may want to take time for meditation, divination, manifestation and/or doing magick. If you have any crystals or oracle cards, this is a good time to cleanse them in the moonlight. If you are feeling really sensitive and emotional, take some slow breaths and care for yourself.
Tuesday the 10th, the moon will be a waning gibbous and will be in this phase for the rest of this article. This is a good time for cleaning, studying, being thankful and doing meditation. This is also the moon phase to do banishing and protection spells.
Continuing Tuesday, the moon enters Libra at 3:03am. This is a great time to decorate your home or to change up your hair. Take time to admire the beauty around you, do some painting or writing and work on self love and confidence. During this time, it’s good for doing something romantic, to spend time with close friends and to do self care. If you are going to start a relationship, this is a great time as well since Mercury will be direct by this time, and Libra is ruled by Venus, the planet of love. This is also a time to re-evaluate how much you give and take in life, and to balance it out if you do too much of one. Be compromising, try avoiding arguments, and let go of any grudges you may have. The moon will be here until Thursday.
Thursday at 2:28am, the moon will be in Scorpio. Being a water sign, this makes us more emotional and our intuitive side is heightened. If you are feeling overwhelmed with emotions, try doing something creative to healthily express yourself. Careful of being overly jealous, secretive or obsessive. If you are feeling stressed, make sure you take time for yourself, go on a nature walk and get grounded. If you can come off as “cold” or are short tempered, make sure to watch your words and actions during this time. Since Scorpio is ruled by Pluto, this is a perfect time for transformation, whether that’s spiritually, emotionally or in a material way. Let go of what no longer serves you, which could be a person, a certain mindset/belief, or whatever applies to you. This is also a great time for learning and doing deep research, especially in things that are considered taboo or occult. Self reflection, meditation and even divination are good things to do while the moon is here. If you are working on enhancing your psychic skills, this is one of the best times to do so!
Moon Void of Course
I won’t get too into detail about this here, but when the moon is in between changing zodiac signs, it goes through a period called “Void of Course”. Things started at this time often get delayed, need adjustment, end up failing, or otherwise just not being stable.
If you’re making any major decisions (e.g. starting a new business, making investments, or even first dates) they should be avoided during this time if possible, as well as planning anything important. Instead, do something such as cleaning, reading, meditating, or so on. If you are going to close a business or end a relationship, this is the time to do so.
